PAINTING A DISTRESSED & GRAY GLAZED TECHNIQUE ON NEW KITCHEN CABINETS

PAINTING A DISTRESSED & GRAY GLAZED  TECHNIQUE ON NEW KITCHEN CABINETS

A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned I was working on kitchen cabinets.
I showed you the tile floor that looks like wood flooring.
Well, here it is!
And, all of this flooring that looks like wood is tile.  Amazing!
I mentioned this kitchen was remodeled and built for wheelchair access.  The carpenter that was working on this remodel built these cabinets especially for the client.  He did a great job.
This is my favorite cabinet that I painted.  Not sure why.
I love the white tile backsplash and the silver handles.
The decorator wanted me to paint a distressed and glazed finish.
I painted a white/grayish first coat and glazed with a light gray that the decorator picked out.
The silver handles look so good with these colors.
Above, the granite guys will cut out the opening for a stove.
The appliances, vent-a-hood and sink are stainless steel.
By the sink they brought the faucet forward to the edge of the counter for easy access.
Those two little knobs are a pull out table, also for easy access.
It's a chopping block table and is on wheels so it's easy to pull out.
All the walls are a soft blue gray with white ceilings and trim.
These painted gray beams really brought all of the colors together nicely.
It's a big open space.
The decorator asked me to paint this barn door with the same finish as the kitchen.  It will be on a black rail and looks really nice across the room from the kitchen.
BEFORE
To the left, they took the china cabinet top off to install the granite.

HAND PAINTED ART ~ CASTLE MURAL FOR LITTLE MORGAN'S ROOM

HAND PAINTED ART ~ CASTLE MURAL FOR LITTLE MORGAN'S ROOM

Recently Morgan got married.  She was such a beautiful bride!
It reminded me of a castle mural I painted for her when she was 5 years old.
Her mom saw a castle I painted in my playroom and wanted one for Morgan.
I went digging through my pictures and found these to share with you.
I painted Morgan as a princess with blue sparkles on her beautiful dress and
she was tossing a rose to her prince.
Turns out her new husband has dark hair, too.
Sparkly daddy blue bird carrying ribbons to his nest.
I added sparkle paint to his feathers.
This is a picture of curious, sweet Simba and
Mama bird rushing to protect her nest.
On either side of her bunny bed,
I painted larkspur with a lady bug and a butterfly.
Morgan was tiny and 5 years old.
I stood on my ladder and held her up to draw her name with a pencil.
Then, I painted it blue.
So cute!!
Painted a large tree in her dressing room.
Daddy sparkly bluebird, again.
I love, love, love this castle mural that I painted for little Morgan.
She and her mommy LOVED it, too.

HAND PAINTED ~ TROMPE L'OEIL ~ BIRD NEST & EGGS

There are three bird nests in my yard, maybe more.
I can hear the babies in the front yard.
Sweet baby birds!

HAND PAINTING PINK FLOWERS ON A WHITE MIRROR FOR A BABY GIRL NURSERY

HAND PAINTING PINK FLOWERS ON A WHITE MIRROR FOR A BABY GIRL NURSERY

This mirror was an older plain white mirror.
I painted the pink flowers to match new bedding for a baby girl.
The white paint finish looked like lacquer, so instead of repainting it I sanded really well before painting the flowers.  I used craft paints because they are so durable and wipeable.  The mirror was older and had only a few small chips and scratches.
I used Ceramcoat white craft paint to touch up.
Usually, when I'm touching up something that is very white,
Ceramcoat's white is a good match.
These flowers are so sweet.
I finished painting it just in time for the baby shower today.
