PAINTING A WROUGHT IRON BED TO A DISTRESSED RED FINISH FOR DEBBIE</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Debbie had a beautiful wrought iron bed. The color was very dark.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She decided she wanted it painted red, so she called me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqQ8bbV1pCNQ5DmokJVu40wpXyq0_nzMGXjWPpNA8eptRSkdK7VZN5MTi0iF5zd4WNfwher4sa1apGFbcCSHlbcs3-uYceYx5BSqJGBEXVm6BLXGa6bDR6rw-hMzPeaRnaNHj7TneEDIg/s1600/IMG_0091+WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqQ8bbV1pCNQ5DmokJVu40wpXyq0_nzMGXjWPpNA8eptRSkdK7VZN5MTi0iF5zd4WNfwher4sa1apGFbcCSHlbcs3-uYceYx5BSqJGBEXVm6BLXGa6bDR6rw-hMzPeaRnaNHj7TneEDIg/s640/IMG_0091+WATER.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One bedroom wall was papered with this metallic damask patterned paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The red looks amazing!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYdwEWubE9C4H-a93l4VNBMJnBtl3Uh4amzD_FQ4Ippz3zbP2YIjdwbSKILGmQ3e_K6qxFX5rVM8iLuzOs5tmRILtOl7ll5Gd3MY7DWaT_N9-6YcBnToSEtE2z6tmpUzc5j6wIYrx88uQ/s1600/IMG_2471+WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYdwEWubE9C4H-a93l4VNBMJnBtl3Uh4amzD_FQ4Ippz3zbP2YIjdwbSKILGmQ3e_K6qxFX5rVM8iLuzOs5tmRILtOl7ll5Gd3MY7DWaT_N9-6YcBnToSEtE2z6tmpUzc5j6wIYrx88uQ/s640/IMG_2471+WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I needed some way to make the headboard and footboard stand so I could paint both sides at once. I already had hooks on my ceiling, so a neighbor helped me tie them so they would stand. That made it so easy to paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Debbie wanted the finish distressed. Here is a close up of the finish. Besides the dark color coming through the red paint, I scraped a little harder and let the white undercoat come through in a few places.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Debbie was excited to find this comforter. She said it was exactly what she was looking for.</div>

VISIT MY NEW<br />
<a href="https://lyndabergmandiyblog.blogspot.com/">LYNDA BERGMAN DIY BLOG</a><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">This tutorial is to show you how I built a few plate racks to install inside the cabinet spaces of kitchen cabinets that I have painted. A plate rack really adds another dimension to your kitchen and can display your decorative plates or your every day plates.</div></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeZ_C9FGIlo059Rv9aFERS5XqltnxSHf-j5z0CxIKvU14opYEt6hiCpayfrqsGQ38resXj_7_xbWazKwQlV-qwYkKtG9iwQewWWTGzeSO-XPkURhKjja0sO0wwVRIPHQUNLMEqQaodexA/s1600/Ince+plate+rack+water.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeZ_C9FGIlo059Rv9aFERS5XqltnxSHf-j5z0CxIKvU14opYEt6hiCpayfrqsGQ38resXj_7_xbWazKwQlV-qwYkKtG9iwQewWWTGzeSO-XPkURhKjja0sO0wwVRIPHQUNLMEqQaodexA/s640/Ince+plate+rack+water.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In this kitchen my clients looked around to figure out where the open cabinet and plate rack would look the best. Then, they removed the two cabinet doors that were on this space. They added their cookbooks on the top shelf.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After they removed the doors there were holes where the screws had been. You can fill those in. If they need to be touched up, use a litte stain or craft paint that matches your cabinet finish. But, I was there to paint one of my special aged finishes on the cabinets so I was able to fill in and disguise the holes with paint and stain. Their cabinets were that pickled/white washed finish before I painted them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you don't want to repaint your whole kitchen, I think it would look really nice and decorative to paint the whole inside of the open area and plate rack an accent color. A color that matches your decor.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNoKfURcNWgICARr-8ZKWKZcgImS4yotEyylgBLi8TwhNqmXsmEFDIxRYaAJPxJRm7T7fHDE-Q9X7wQOphJNVdYZx3dkGuY5JXWbRXL97tl2y9giAMhs8UDEvj-_-d0zSjAWHUdf7iWlo/s1600/PicMonkey+Collagewater.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNoKfURcNWgICARr-8ZKWKZcgImS4yotEyylgBLi8TwhNqmXsmEFDIxRYaAJPxJRm7T7fHDE-Q9X7wQOphJNVdYZx3dkGuY5JXWbRXL97tl2y9giAMhs8UDEvj-_-d0zSjAWHUdf7iWlo/s640/PicMonkey+Collagewater.jpg" width="640" /></a>First, I went to Lowe's and got trim that was about l/8" x 1 1/2" wide and dowels that were about 3/8". These trim pieces come in different lengths. They're usually in the section where you find other door and baseboard trim. I measured the inside of the cabinet to see how long the top and bottom pieces of the plate rack should be. I cut four pieces the same length. The two racks need two of these cut pieces each, one for the top and one for the bottom to hold the dowels. Then, I taped them together before I drilled the holes for the dowels. You need all of those holes to be exactly the same so the dowels will be vertically straight and evenly spaced. I drilled a hole every 2". But, before drilling you need to go with the measurements of your cabinet space. The space between your holes drilled may be a little more or a little less than my 2".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh, and, when I measured the width and height of the inside of the cabinet, I made sure I was 1/8" to 1/4" shorter so the plate rack would slide in, easily.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTahfqFiCPTI-NVnNCufNlESKzdkHSNkhXa_GrT7MqS9DfKci6-QxkGPa15x1nNIiZJK1BNVdo_ouGrZs7Abz9KKnfc-v_Y9UnnBNiHhhHJBqEY3eNQBoTdz1kaC2bdAe5gH3FtG2M6sU/s1600/IMG_0026+water.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTahfqFiCPTI-NVnNCufNlESKzdkHSNkhXa_GrT7MqS9DfKci6-QxkGPa15x1nNIiZJK1BNVdo_ouGrZs7Abz9KKnfc-v_Y9UnnBNiHhhHJBqEY3eNQBoTdz1kaC2bdAe5gH3FtG2M6sU/s640/IMG_0026+water.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You need to measure the size of your dowel so you'll know which size drill bit you will need to drill your holes. When I had everything cut exactly the same, I used Elmer's Wood Glue and pushed or gently hammered the dowels into the holes on the trim piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's best to paint everything before you install these racks or you'll have a hard time getting your brush and hand in between all of those spindles. It's just a neater, cleaner job painting before you install.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After painting everything, I got small finish nails and hammered/got them started in the bottom and top trim pieces so it would be easier to hammer them into place. Before I hammered them to the cabinet I put Elmer's Wood Glue all over the top and bottom trim pieces where they would be touching the top and the bottom of the cabinet. Wood glue makes a much tighter bond than nails only.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Before the final step of hammering them into place, I measured where I wanted to place the two racks and the distance between them was important. So, I measured 1 3/4" back from the front of the cabinet because I wanted the front rack to be placed there. I penciled a line so the rack would be perfectly straight. Then, I measured 5" from the back where the front rack would be nailed and that's where I drew my next line. My lines were drawn where the front of each rack would be. You have to draw these lines on the top and bottom of the cabinet opening, so everything will be perfectly straight.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
THEN, I hammered them into place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a free standing plate rack that I built and painted artwork on sides and top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8fDpX_wBfyF_zsniWomDvzB3n7udixfrkpI5hk7ayoMZp_4DXgckczni5-18zjCxtMJac-Yi0LPlACpiLgO6rSOp05rzHE49y_YcqyuSkq16Ksl5e2rs4y8JLzD1BlP6jenrmJqALpcE/s1600/IMG_7554+platerkwater.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8fDpX_wBfyF_zsniWomDvzB3n7udixfrkpI5hk7ayoMZp_4DXgckczni5-18zjCxtMJac-Yi0LPlACpiLgO6rSOp05rzHE49y_YcqyuSkq16Ksl5e2rs4y8JLzD1BlP6jenrmJqALpcE/s640/IMG_7554+platerkwater.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First, I built the box (like the inside of a cabinet). I attached four drawer pulls for the feet. Then, I put it together just like the instructions above.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8MUsyKtU-J_1TkvqoIv3X_hHfoelhvvJdMrnQsur8QOQRuV-d4W11SmzSlneTAh3hevNB1YCmtwA2nwKPHLQP5XThMcpg9R4_lxZwPFFedJjWvQxTrHIb9RsAznXWkgcZJ0TSRf-T_38/s1600/IMG_0019+water.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8MUsyKtU-J_1TkvqoIv3X_hHfoelhvvJdMrnQsur8QOQRuV-d4W11SmzSlneTAh3hevNB1YCmtwA2nwKPHLQP5XThMcpg9R4_lxZwPFFedJjWvQxTrHIb9RsAznXWkgcZJ0TSRf-T_38/s640/IMG_0019+water.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This would be such a nice gift for someone. You could stain the wood or you could paint and crackle. You could stencil all over it, decoupage all over it. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Paint all one color or different coordinating colors to fit your or someone's decor.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Just a suggestion: when you put your plates in the plate rack, if you put them straight in that's ok and you can get one more plate in it. But, if you have decorative dishes and want them to show, angle one spindle over in the back when you're putting the plates in and that little angle will show off your dishes. If you angle there will be space for one less plate. But, the angle looks really good.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I posted back in September?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Paula is still working on her decorating and asked me to help her change the colors on a mirror frame and a picture frame. They were both metallic gold and very beautiful, but she thought they no longer looked good with the gray tones she picked for this new home.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGtgwIpG9Ujp6dRSGGbzz1tEmNC8R1ROaOJ3heP3eov_GAgJHxsBTGJZMrUPI55NdG9GpEWzUlYy6-ADciCsezIUTb-b0xaWcVH8vBkFGyyi_L5KeqmDOmqM2uejLZ06GGofWjAf7Zj1Y/s1600/McGeeWorkIslandWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGtgwIpG9Ujp6dRSGGbzz1tEmNC8R1ROaOJ3heP3eov_GAgJHxsBTGJZMrUPI55NdG9GpEWzUlYy6-ADciCsezIUTb-b0xaWcVH8vBkFGyyi_L5KeqmDOmqM2uejLZ06GGofWjAf7Zj1Y/s640/McGeeWorkIslandWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thank goodness she has this huge island in her kitchen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was a perfect work table for the painting.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn2xlDqXYBdDMu73ivHNohG80yEy_ZWbGdgI21yzjRPc54uIukbcbyh6XPmaZMGWTQztK8Sy6S0-fh-w2c3W_p0TncxO_GpgRbLYshC78kgn9jmLzQYioWl1INQITkC2aIRltIBynKQPA/s1600/McGeeFrameGoldWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn2xlDqXYBdDMu73ivHNohG80yEy_ZWbGdgI21yzjRPc54uIukbcbyh6XPmaZMGWTQztK8Sy6S0-fh-w2c3W_p0TncxO_GpgRbLYshC78kgn9jmLzQYioWl1INQITkC2aIRltIBynKQPA/s640/McGeeFrameGoldWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the very large picture frame. On the right you can see the "before" metallic gold.<br />
Paula had several colors of paint from her renovation and asked me to use a dark greenie gray for this frame.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimkWznH-osqvC8vxOFh4vQ5Uz3mz3CtaiwQ4hXqeJ44zDON8FktzZuuDP-lLSsHRQ4Bem7VF0yORWTvPlPTt-1wkCw0884U09zX9v7LITho3_J21CBWFA7JJt03THPC-jcqVJGRaTYBdw/s1600/McGeeFramePtngWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimkWznH-osqvC8vxOFh4vQ5Uz3mz3CtaiwQ4hXqeJ44zDON8FktzZuuDP-lLSsHRQ4Bem7VF0yORWTvPlPTt-1wkCw0884U09zX9v7LITho3_J21CBWFA7JJt03THPC-jcqVJGRaTYBdw/s640/McGeeFramePtngWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I painted on and rubbed off the greenie gray. On the smooth areas I rubbed more off, leaving the paint a little heavier around the decorative design. That gave it an "antique aged" look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifHBjAaR_VD6Sqd97USEdVgEvUrYyh5J_tezVi25_c1pni3vrw7AH9uvmizsOo4WLZQ_9C31pkzc3O2-cifImRpEGu3ImF_SWUcEWIfa5H6EJtorxjqqPZ9LaIJQ8xfhGGmPfrNJ95d3c/s1600/McGeeFrameTblWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifHBjAaR_VD6Sqd97USEdVgEvUrYyh5J_tezVi25_c1pni3vrw7AH9uvmizsOo4WLZQ_9C31pkzc3O2-cifImRpEGu3ImF_SWUcEWIfa5H6EJtorxjqqPZ9LaIJQ8xfhGGmPfrNJ95d3c/s640/McGeeFrameTblWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is where Paula plans to hang the painting. Those walls are gray and my camera made them look kind of greenie blue. The new color on the frame looks really nice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, this is wonderful Hank. He's a huge Maine Coon Cat and a really cute personality. When I laid down my bags, he immediately sniffed around and then laid on top of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
His mom says he likes me...I LOVE him!!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Last night Paula sent this picture to me. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He's so funny!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPEQy6qIB2c8UhzmwjhkBCkVZzb5tBmQ26yRJN7LIFeyTRWiodfsvQ41BQ2Hbjn34alZ5tvKsVL_9n_NWMD5T9CJ67G90MGePnLOGKKU89FqZxHAAXwoHoBrhBu1Q7M9gH0P2-pSrUZYQ/s1600/McGeeFrameWhiMeWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPEQy6qIB2c8UhzmwjhkBCkVZzb5tBmQ26yRJN7LIFeyTRWiodfsvQ41BQ2Hbjn34alZ5tvKsVL_9n_NWMD5T9CJ67G90MGePnLOGKKU89FqZxHAAXwoHoBrhBu1Q7M9gH0P2-pSrUZYQ/s640/McGeeFrameWhiMeWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the mirror frame. Paula wanted it to be a soft gray. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I finished painting it she thought it didn't look dark enough with the walls in the dining room, so I rubbed a dark blacky brown on top of the soft gray. It was a good contrast.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgJdGG3GBLI2V5kER1tqr3ZvYlDypNxYwol3oLr13FpeNYKSV8-xuaILQsGJj4jGQQZe0B0QH5S2PJe5e57MF1B8gv3cK2XCyhexJidK9WQODWMFCRAQVo5z9KWNLr7rn_gN28qffbAaw/s1600/McGeeMiFrWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgJdGG3GBLI2V5kER1tqr3ZvYlDypNxYwol3oLr13FpeNYKSV8-xuaILQsGJj4jGQQZe0B0QH5S2PJe5e57MF1B8gv3cK2XCyhexJidK9WQODWMFCRAQVo5z9KWNLr7rn_gN28qffbAaw/s640/McGeeMiFrWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is how it turned out. Looks really good on the soft gray walls, now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuAPZvyE3t551LSNKXIZPZLzf277bpgX13PXN5hq9QIDfHYRaXyk2Spz1ljogR3Yc5PG2s-MYglIJbtcxjb-DIHg4MhjH2EwTDO5hYnhLC252Gw9P3xC-tsSY1HuGV0VdmYcSNqp0s3L0/s1600/McGeeLtBrkfstWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuAPZvyE3t551LSNKXIZPZLzf277bpgX13PXN5hq9QIDfHYRaXyk2Spz1ljogR3Yc5PG2s-MYglIJbtcxjb-DIHg4MhjH2EwTDO5hYnhLC252Gw9P3xC-tsSY1HuGV0VdmYcSNqp0s3L0/s640/McGeeLtBrkfstWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In the first picture above you can see Paula's kitchen light fixture.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the light fixture she chose to go across the room above her breakfast table.</div>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
PAINTING SHUTTERS METALLIC GOLD & LEOPARD SPOTS</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Patti is one of my favorite clients. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love the projects she has asked me to paint for her home through the years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9DFQ0_bZr_TK8Szsn-s5O3LMSGy-_UMzUelxmFBN8h8Kdko9Ke6PuCc7tIUPZKPifSKC5C4Afcg9zWHeqiH6ohOlXzeWRbY7V2qU-l7858dkuOw4x4xzDU2YdRCLqxpYOF-u3Bbz5xYA/s1600/LEOPARD+SHUTTERS+PATTI0001+WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="693" data-original-width="1140" height="388" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9DFQ0_bZr_TK8Szsn-s5O3LMSGy-_UMzUelxmFBN8h8Kdko9Ke6PuCc7tIUPZKPifSKC5C4Afcg9zWHeqiH6ohOlXzeWRbY7V2qU-l7858dkuOw4x4xzDU2YdRCLqxpYOF-u3Bbz5xYA/s640/LEOPARD+SHUTTERS+PATTI0001+WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She had a small window in one of her hallways. She found these shutters that were just the right size and asked me to paint them metallic gold and leopard spots.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She asked me to paint this curtain rod and finials black and metallic gold to go in an adjoining bedroom. The colors matched the colors in the shutters.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYfCBvh_hu09-MLCxGymx2ZlHnjHj4Oevp1LHl_B4j4Yvz_CoBmdfEArHDDsPC3Dytl9vQi5MBPqC4j7V9v4Cz6Vh0dZyzFvkQh_1OxYPQ16kyA2C4_VbTmq0aqBDeWa27hvM12dEU0H4/s1600/LEOPARD+SHUTTERS+PATTI+20001WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1028" data-original-width="792" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYfCBvh_hu09-MLCxGymx2ZlHnjHj4Oevp1LHl_B4j4Yvz_CoBmdfEArHDDsPC3Dytl9vQi5MBPqC4j7V9v4Cz6Vh0dZyzFvkQh_1OxYPQ16kyA2C4_VbTmq0aqBDeWa27hvM12dEU0H4/s640/LEOPARD+SHUTTERS+PATTI+20001WATER.jpg" width="492" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First, I painted the inside shutter part a solid black. When I painted the metallic gold over the black shutter part, I kept touching/blotting it with a rag.<br />
That's why you are seeing the black coming through the gold.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixCjv6E4USMuyp4Q4Xa39qieoXw7zR6l4vuZGsXwtGjtSlMK17SvuJTbJkhx4XgDDz5kFxpYX8iP5lbgyBYdHRwubFSW8B1keA30bCHsT0e2fu6sB8DROnKX5klB8FjF2ybpVenQpxLso/s640/IMG_9826+watermarked.jpg" width="480" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The undercoat for the outer frame where the leopard spots are, I painted a beigy off white. Then, painted the metallic gold over that. Next, I started drawing black squiggly lines with an opening. I painted a different color of metallic gold inside the squiggly lines.<br />
It's ok that they're not perfect.<br />
I used a black craft paint for the black and craft metallic paint for the two golds.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did not seal these shutters because they were on a high window, so not a lot of traffic. Sometimes, when you seal a metallic paint it dulls the finish. Once I painted a lot of metallic paint in a dark bathroom, knowing it wasn't going to reflect a lot. Then, I thought to use a high gloss water based sealer and it turned out great in the dark bathroom. <br />
The metallic paints did reflect really well. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq_yolBknOs6o9Cjxm_AMXPCF2ohd-QCw5-OqB3psj9OAKFK17gFoKgj5oLErZKGDixT0AwkjtZgg2C18xBNSCqirCYYJBVkTQmzTR_KE_OUFaCDFrTPmjUwLF5m0Vm9x1goldwfCxueU/s640/IMG_9827+watermarked.jpg" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Remember, metallics "reflect" light. Without a light source it's just a color.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The high gloss in that bathroom was perfect for that dark area.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqT0VuYgzDHYoPQ4B7-7U9PDPVt3nwiYYeMyyGR2OTcqJRngBcRaS_-qSjl14UtyLQ9WnowR-8zrpf15c3wXf75lmsrZ20YEFxKeJxZup8bBRJ3iAG7eEZxWUS1o7g2XZDUf9uJfnKeOc/s640/IMG_9828+watermarked.jpg" width="480" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The carpenter separated the shutters and put one on each side of the window.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Such a great idea, Patti!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They looked really, really cute/great/wonderful!!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Original post 9/14/17.</div>

PAINTING ARTWORK ON A HUGE CANVAS TO COVER A HEADBOARD</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This is a link to a past project that I thought some of my friends might be interested to see.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My client showed me a photograph and asked me to paint something similar on a huge canvas.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
She wanted to cover her headboard with it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1tFyQO-83mkNzxD3g0V5ZspcRTwdJEevq64GXi3f3CJ0FbOgAZIsiqQBHI831UhibLjhZn2U83lo_y7rEyaVvv9A9DL0uubWMMam73hR0fCIz3KDEzwdgRKLer96qbXfWoicSWXuusWI/s640/IMG_5648_1.jpg" /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
She and her handyman stapled this huge canvas onto a large piece of plywood.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This canvas cloth was very inexpensive. I think you could paint just about anything on it for a headboard or wall hanging. You could paint castles, ABC's, handprints, a panda bear, ANYTHING!! and it would be so cute or cool. Big squares or big triangles and stars. Stripes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmWid1ZvVbKQRk6Z0MO_Ky1HcEV9UG1_6UhuDO4FARwPDgv5EIZ1682t7YbtxdXuce41Y8Q1LZ73YDTErMqQyIbapOBQolrcZxPaHmD5ugrBoB_AIqjGh20qJzopnH97-f_bG6FPz3Xk4/s640/IMG_5652_1.JPG" /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<h2>
PAINTING FAUX "ANTIQUE COPPER" ON VERONICA'S DINING ROOM CEILING & TWO NICHES</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My client asked me to paint her dining room ceiling.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Her home was the perfect style for my "antique copper" special finish.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I showed her a sample and she loved it. There were two niches in the entry next to her dining room and she asked me to paint the same finish in those, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When you walk in the front door you see the niches and dining room together.<br />
They look really nice.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1JsV4HlF8lphfd7x6787R8qBGimVHIC89yDMcV9kNRHy72Ys2_-3PZDZGi5iEbZtXu6vXB3U5Etup6byLa2vtsBMaGwi3BfAwG5TboyBwl7y64O6tAtl-pQG37amefz-HmnGgN19u0wY/s1600/VeronicaDiazSantosONEwater.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1JsV4HlF8lphfd7x6787R8qBGimVHIC89yDMcV9kNRHy72Ys2_-3PZDZGi5iEbZtXu6vXB3U5Etup6byLa2vtsBMaGwi3BfAwG5TboyBwl7y64O6tAtl-pQG37amefz-HmnGgN19u0wY/s1600/VeronicaDiazSantosONEwater.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Imagine what you are seeing is a metallic copper shining back at you through the antiquing. I always have trouble taking pictures of the metallic paints. Either they shine too much or not at all. She found this wonderful santos "The King" and it fit perfectly in the space. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She said that she will be adding more art above Him.</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdccy8ZCKCmvm8zPAbaeqMHc0WdVULRA2jTzvq-DMq9C4MgCfR70aTXrzxjHyUVYRVL2LJX1X8xwLWwgEXNI9UC-tsszQhjUv5wDSSPIl7JIdjOtpLYsWYFf7OVpjPQ15Oc24WE56dXp4/s1600/VeronicaDiazDRceilWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdccy8ZCKCmvm8zPAbaeqMHc0WdVULRA2jTzvq-DMq9C4MgCfR70aTXrzxjHyUVYRVL2LJX1X8xwLWwgEXNI9UC-tsszQhjUv5wDSSPIl7JIdjOtpLYsWYFf7OVpjPQ15Oc24WE56dXp4/s1600/VeronicaDiazDRceilWATER.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is her 14' high dining room ceiling. I used my 8' ladder, but it was still lots of work. I painted the antique copper as the base coat and used a dark blacky brown to antique over it. I painted on the brown and wiped it off with a rag. The texture on her ceiling was just perfect for antiquing the ceiling. At the base of her chandelier I did some smudging, added metallic gold and some red. It looks like the copper might have aged and has a natural patina.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Her husband really liked it and said it looked like a ceiling in Vegas.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Vh0bXvUXAOCer5cPv8hJ65jJVtjjQPmXRlbJluxFna3jQYanpPl5ZlBEfpC94kJRqYzm3laoTMOPKBlzUdd3C3kPpkL7UpeHv04bPPHn42oFTFVT-Ecq5kBsc4tWeW4AM2HX5MB8ZKs/s1600/VeronicaDiaz2HerDRwater.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Vh0bXvUXAOCer5cPv8hJ65jJVtjjQPmXRlbJluxFna3jQYanpPl5ZlBEfpC94kJRqYzm3laoTMOPKBlzUdd3C3kPpkL7UpeHv04bPPHn42oFTFVT-Ecq5kBsc4tWeW4AM2HX5MB8ZKs/s1600/VeronicaDiaz2HerDRwater.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There's sweet Veronica dusting her chandelier. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She said she and her decorator are going to add more crystals. It will really sparkle!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHx-uZPfCnemsGq7YbPH2TfTmBYM8mGMWq9L8x3WAcPzeAvppSgaKeqCIzCBVNcsJnURvEoPgrKyEEZHXr5Smq2XKdwWqYqMr1wL1ddsy3YPNNDdrcceZPfiTXgdlNxT8MBfKhzb-cbOQ/s1600/VeronicaDiazKittenBorisWater.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHx-uZPfCnemsGq7YbPH2TfTmBYM8mGMWq9L8x3WAcPzeAvppSgaKeqCIzCBVNcsJnURvEoPgrKyEEZHXr5Smq2XKdwWqYqMr1wL1ddsy3YPNNDdrcceZPfiTXgdlNxT8MBfKhzb-cbOQ/s1600/VeronicaDiazKittenBorisWater.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh my goodness!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is their tiny little kitten that her son got for Christmas. I bet he doesn't even weigh a pound and they named him BORIS. He's a fluffy gray and white long haired kitty. He was sooo tiny. One day while I was working, they couldn't find him. They looked and looked for at least 30 minutes panicking. thinking he might have gotten out the front door. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are the two niches in Veronica's entry. Because of all of the light coming in her front doors, the "antique copper" looked beautiful with the subtle metallic sheen (which you can't see in these two pictures). Oh, and last week they added a granite shelf inside each niche. </div>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
PAINTING A 1930'S TELEPHONE TABLE TO A FRENCH COUNTRY CREAMY CRACKLED DISTRESSED FINISH</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Recently I painted kitchen cabinets to a french country crackled distressed finish.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The colors were so creamy and soft. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wanted to paint a piece of furniture with similar colors and technique.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDVznUdxGbwqCyjDyBXD1BpWEadi-hTMZZeoTV6U9FImFk8vwfX2xktB08Rde1vkC6U7LO7VdPhqUQvgaN86wXA1NvuKnYb0wKVQfg3jXw3rrJMkxEaF4dk0Np6_2_wB2BVB-MbJZtHho/s1600/TeleTableKnobWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDVznUdxGbwqCyjDyBXD1BpWEadi-hTMZZeoTV6U9FImFk8vwfX2xktB08Rde1vkC6U7LO7VdPhqUQvgaN86wXA1NvuKnYb0wKVQfg3jXw3rrJMkxEaF4dk0Np6_2_wB2BVB-MbJZtHho/s640/TeleTableKnobWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A while back I found this 1930's telephone table and decided it would be perfect!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPrQ15aGnrplweGrMUFX_bVQb4J_QaA_tcCAfNYL0p2TjxCfoi_pR1Q5hXIL9DjubAPTZl0dQjlIvRSk5GL64d6XJHFH34UWaQqAd8j6G7dP7tdR6JpxJCU75wZiIT8QI3SLd5Gz5-nsc/s1600/TelephoneTableWholeWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="578" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPrQ15aGnrplweGrMUFX_bVQb4J_QaA_tcCAfNYL0p2TjxCfoi_pR1Q5hXIL9DjubAPTZl0dQjlIvRSk5GL64d6XJHFH34UWaQqAd8j6G7dP7tdR6JpxJCU75wZiIT8QI3SLd5Gz5-nsc/s640/TelephoneTableWholeWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In case you weren't around back then, that open space was for a telephone book. The phone sat on top of the table and had a permanent wire coming from the wall.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You couldn't move the phone around the house like you can today.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh73Pwl0WsXYvwDOvIHXZ0zzIkAkhqqIsArGGjAJkd5_a6WIE8V9qsM8z5YlzNI3GVr1uK6z9KRwv5f8YDflCH7akSKGDz_HlKI6z9cQo255CsEQDMU2dTKEUaKfODQoZaOMNvl_TtEHXw/s1600/TelephoneTableTopWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh73Pwl0WsXYvwDOvIHXZ0zzIkAkhqqIsArGGjAJkd5_a6WIE8V9qsM8z5YlzNI3GVr1uK6z9KRwv5f8YDflCH7akSKGDz_HlKI6z9cQo255CsEQDMU2dTKEUaKfODQoZaOMNvl_TtEHXw/s640/TelephoneTableTopWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I stenciled the top with a soft glaze and painted parts of the legs in the same glaze.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7FZFlNn_JxMYE-aABh5FrIesTAYQJUB9EuJpI_dxxmpMhuWi9OJ4A3MrVXLV4oxdnfIlWD5s_4TwqxwZuJzQQWveCvOwml7Cd7M0C3i2WqNC2-KHt7WTCg6XKQqbN2NHPhdDJSrHPfjs/s1600/TelephoneTableKnobWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7FZFlNn_JxMYE-aABh5FrIesTAYQJUB9EuJpI_dxxmpMhuWi9OJ4A3MrVXLV4oxdnfIlWD5s_4TwqxwZuJzQQWveCvOwml7Cd7M0C3i2WqNC2-KHt7WTCg6XKQqbN2NHPhdDJSrHPfjs/s640/TelephoneTableKnobWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I found this table, the handle was missing. In my studio stash I found this knob with a backplate and it was just the perfect size to cover the original holes. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I drilled a new hole in the middle for the new knob.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It would have been nice to have the original handle, but really like this one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am very happy with the way this antique table looks now.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Original post on October 22, 2016.</div>

Ruth found these rusty old ceiling tins and asked me to paint something on them. The design on the tins was so beautiful and I could see an urn with flowers. Ruth had just built her country home and gave me the colors she was using in her master bedroom. She wanted to hang these above her bed. I love working with ceiling tins. I have some that are so rusty, the rust has eaten holes in them. But, they're still very beautiful!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To paint these, I didn't prime them. I just painted a flat off white wall paint right over the rust, hoping that some of it might bleed back through. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Only a little bit did and it added to the aged look. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">She was very happy. Me, too!</div>

PAINTING FLOWERS ON AN OLD DRESSER TO MATCH A DECORATIVE MIRROR</h2>
I LOVE the way Patti decorates!! This is one of her bathrooms...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She found this metal mirror and it was already beautifully painted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2DQ_XReV8NV76eCMm74QScjm0II-0JFDT_9Ic9eanz6LHcnzy_MRhSWCRLd1OePn8suk8Do8Csm4JDekaYJKzPiiq34Gg7aa_eNGbSLLdn7s5zPpIedhgxEm9d4szLFQ4d-5b1CVxLI0/s1600/IMG_0091+watermarked.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" qea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2DQ_XReV8NV76eCMm74QScjm0II-0JFDT_9Ic9eanz6LHcnzy_MRhSWCRLd1OePn8suk8Do8Csm4JDekaYJKzPiiq34Gg7aa_eNGbSLLdn7s5zPpIedhgxEm9d4szLFQ4d-5b1CVxLI0/s640/IMG_0091+watermarked.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then, she found this old dresser and it was white and distressed. She brought the dresser and the mirror to me and asked me to paint the dresser to match the mirror.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXjtqEBu808ai5XvNArhFk79pJ7oiFNtX9S9igiQ8E9Gnw3YpLg50lsuKokkQiiMpLrBd0xYJN10L8LeoPyTuVFj0jNmQx2DgB2CMrvC1esrTnlJxesb9yrmaCKzM3ua0_mJ10m89UcxA/s1600/IMG_9822_1+watermarked.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" qea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXjtqEBu808ai5XvNArhFk79pJ7oiFNtX9S9igiQ8E9Gnw3YpLg50lsuKokkQiiMpLrBd0xYJN10L8LeoPyTuVFj0jNmQx2DgB2CMrvC1esrTnlJxesb9yrmaCKzM3ua0_mJ10m89UcxA/s640/IMG_9822_1+watermarked.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was a bit of a challenge and fun to try to match the mirror. I loved the flower colors and the aqua background color together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I embossed the corners of these dresser doors with a scrollie design and then painted them and other tiny trim a metallic gold. She had the dresser installed and then added the granite top, sink and faucet.</div>

PAINTNG A TROMPE L'OEIL WINDOW & PAINTING STONES TUTORIAL</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My client had just moved into her new home. She had a huge, oddly shaped niche in her family room that I guess was for a large television. But, she didn't want her television there. She wanted it across the room and asked me if I could paint the niche to look like a window. Also, she wanted me to faux paint her walls in her big open family room and kitchen/breakfast room area.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

She wanted me to paint her walls a Tuscan gold color and I ragged a tea stain glaze over that color. It was subtle, but a very nice look. </div>

<u>TUTORIAL</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the stones, I faux painted the walls the colors I wanted the stones to be. Then, I used a level and drew the lines the size I wanted the stones to be. I used a pencil for drawing the lines. Then, with a small brush I painted squiggly lines on the pencil lines to define the mortar lines of the stones. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I wanted the stones to look mossy and aged.</div>

My client asked me to repair these large (22"x26") picture frames. I repaired the chipped and broken areas with wood glue. When that dried, I textured over those areas with venitian plaster. It dries to a hard finish. I keep a can of the plaster in my studio for all kinds of repairs. Now, I will paint the frames and you'll never be able to tell they didn't come from the factory with this textured finish on them. My client wanted me to paint these frames a very dark brown to match his decor. You can paint your frames with metallic paint or any paint and any color you want.<br />
Good as new!!<br />This is a repost previously published on 12/30/11.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Back to the New Orleans style house where I've been working.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The builder had one area that bothered him and couldn't decide what to do with it.</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicviCJ96m5MlyShTIx6wK7saeW_Q0TUJGo1g4XG-1Fx7ZQe_91GCOUmhC_HF7FYV8I-tc8lJqdvRI_6-jl5vcG6UQZoxlSY91HGwHOlDunjgqTvY9dn5d-fR7day_9IZnHRgokUQw9TX8/s1600/IMG_1006_WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicviCJ96m5MlyShTIx6wK7saeW_Q0TUJGo1g4XG-1Fx7ZQe_91GCOUmhC_HF7FYV8I-tc8lJqdvRI_6-jl5vcG6UQZoxlSY91HGwHOlDunjgqTvY9dn5d-fR7day_9IZnHRgokUQw9TX8/s640/IMG_1006_WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally, he had an idea and called me to ask if I could paint faux bricks for him in this area.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, I did paint faux/trompe l'oeil bricks for him. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Above are three walls with bricks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Can you tell which two walls are real and the one that I painted?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGYo5atJECm429Dqe3S9dBbqchNdwCIcpHd987k-ajpMYPCvK2kXlHIAFOUlVohUtFcpLlrNaGRhaHLEgRHx4cFPNv_r6lAOzYeinTeDBSmAGRZysVEEV2uy9-ivpsuzfsn4q56P8wTVg/s1600/IMG_1009_WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGYo5atJECm429Dqe3S9dBbqchNdwCIcpHd987k-ajpMYPCvK2kXlHIAFOUlVohUtFcpLlrNaGRhaHLEgRHx4cFPNv_r6lAOzYeinTeDBSmAGRZysVEEV2uy9-ivpsuzfsn4q56P8wTVg/s640/IMG_1009_WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ok, which one?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Alright, I'm sure you've guessed it. The butler's pantry was very plain and the builder wanted me to paint the faux bricks to blend with the other two walls. When you're standing in certain areas in the big living room you can see all three brick walls at the same time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was important to make them look the same.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnyhpOvPwDfiyOLnhtFkOQhkfAPwyp88jhtda8-5b3iZSipOU26nL9zjdvfuiMOw-H6dO-wUyd7IgVp4RA0MvErEDvQGuTs1-XkVNwi6s8bqVKp0geuW6TH8M0Px3i5d1ZVTPMXvI3glg/s1600/IMG_1011_WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnyhpOvPwDfiyOLnhtFkOQhkfAPwyp88jhtda8-5b3iZSipOU26nL9zjdvfuiMOw-H6dO-wUyd7IgVp4RA0MvErEDvQGuTs1-XkVNwi6s8bqVKp0geuW6TH8M0Px3i5d1ZVTPMXvI3glg/s640/IMG_1011_WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm very happy with the way they turned out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Everybody was saying, "oh, that looks good, you did it" and that made me feel good. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The builder helped me with critiquing the grout lines and together, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
WE DID IT!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>TUTORIAL</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u><br /></u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First, I used dry spackling. With a broad knife and my finger I lightly textured the area.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWM-Ysk4E0WqY3PMqKTSRer7fQT0cTYsXJ0XvYXD7ZUlVo4qhVD2NdFd2mYCu3amV1krySrpsZXahBWrpIHN6HydWK0aGutJMb7wNcxGuMOJoQBg53zxmPNF4nbJG4pKmVA4VJ4rSpEEQ/s1600/IMG_0992_WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWM-Ysk4E0WqY3PMqKTSRer7fQT0cTYsXJ0XvYXD7ZUlVo4qhVD2NdFd2mYCu3amV1krySrpsZXahBWrpIHN6HydWK0aGutJMb7wNcxGuMOJoQBg53zxmPNF4nbJG4pKmVA4VJ4rSpEEQ/s640/IMG_0992_WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I picked out colors to match the existing brick and mortar colors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> I painted the grayish grout color over the whole area as my base coat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When that dried, I used my brick stencil to get the structure going. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpRDCLHAG5xmjUOwnqbRsRZfT0SBFwBcMY-9wEv-__04tEKd5s3k9EU1QS4_QzG2EGpvmCNFlez7LFy4MebV47Ck3IaPB4YJPk52r7x1ZjtBCe8yC8rWsd9GhVyhvXIP00EdX4GtUZh_I/s1600/IMG_0994_WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpRDCLHAG5xmjUOwnqbRsRZfT0SBFwBcMY-9wEv-__04tEKd5s3k9EU1QS4_QzG2EGpvmCNFlez7LFy4MebV47Ck3IaPB4YJPk52r7x1ZjtBCe8yC8rWsd9GhVyhvXIP00EdX4GtUZh_I/s640/IMG_0994_WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next, I used a regular brush to stencil the orange brick. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then, I used a brush to paint on and a rag to rub out raw umber, off white and black. It took a while to work on each brick and make them different from each other. Last, I went back with a brush to paint the grout lines a little wider. As the paint was wet, I wiped with a rag and smudged areas onto each brick to match the existing real brick walls.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At the very bottom and at the very top I had to make my own bricks because the stencil wouldn't fit in those spots. The bricks are so uneven it's very simple to do. In the corners I lightly brushed some raw umber so it shadowed, making it look more three dimensional.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I think anyone could do this. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You could paint the wall behind your fireplace, the backsplash under your kitchen cabinets, a mud room, a bedroom wall or any place you wish you had bricks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can use any color for your bricks and mortar.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have fun!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Original Post: 6/20/13</div>

FAUX PAINTING CEILING BEAMS TO LOOK LIKE</h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
DARK OLD WOOD</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">The beams in this great room were just boards and stained a medium brown.</div><div style="text-align: left;">Also, they had a shiny clear coat of sealer on them.</div><div style="text-align: left;">My client wanted them to look old and asked me to paint them to look like dark old beams.</div></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4yaoNTXSUqScneA74ajXFwQ9hbyDVka3jQMbnSrvtJFNpbGr4-NB60iEyUGTlBlppmx2Ojv3YR5NMStCnbM2IaufkRpTd8fYUDi7PL7ducSHBZ87L_3oDfJNKrU2aIYW42DfGXVPfXwo/s1600/BEAMSoneMichelleDallasWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="364" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4yaoNTXSUqScneA74ajXFwQ9hbyDVka3jQMbnSrvtJFNpbGr4-NB60iEyUGTlBlppmx2Ojv3YR5NMStCnbM2IaufkRpTd8fYUDi7PL7ducSHBZ87L_3oDfJNKrU2aIYW42DfGXVPfXwo/s1600/BEAMSoneMichelleDallasWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I primed, then painted the base coat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then, I streaked a lighter brown and gray with my brush and a rag.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last, I painted knot holes to make the beams look a little more authentic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Because I wanted them to look old and dry I didn't paint a sealer on them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">A clear coat sealer would have made them shine. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">A low sheen sealer would have made them shine a little bit and that, to me, does not look old.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was a lot of work to paint these beams. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Especially since I was painting for so many hours above my head. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The new darker beams were a dramatic change for this beautiful room.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This room was dark and the beams really did look like they might have been old wood.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My clients were very happy with their new old beams.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh, and I textured, painted and glazed these walls to look like old broken plaster.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And, I painted the ceiling the base coat color that I used on the walls under the glaze.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Original post was 9/30/14.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<h2>
HAND PAINTING A CHANDELIER & TUTORIAL</h2><div style="text-align: left;">A few years ago, I painted the kitchen cabinets in my client's new home.</div><div style="text-align: left;">She wanted a darker, warmer tuscany finish. I painted most of the high walls and ceilings and textured and faux painted several of the walls.</div><div style="text-align: left;">A few weeks ago, she called and said she was ready for a change.</div><div style="text-align: left;">This time she wanted EVERYTHING to be painted in very light colors.</div><div style="text-align: left;">Because of my schedule, this time I only painted the kitchen cabinets and another painter painted all of the walls, ceilings and woodwork.</div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3339OiTVOj4egV7pfcIALegnRVHEr44zsv-7HXwjl50_RxwgXcRTIpaoGNGHsVq3v50kOZWaj-9HT7oxmpp76fGQQbanPVWvXHs5VSGj54Q8ZH4tfT4p7svO9QYWJBLrXwu5jhtW7Ecg/s1600/TanjiPChanSmWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3339OiTVOj4egV7pfcIALegnRVHEr44zsv-7HXwjl50_RxwgXcRTIpaoGNGHsVq3v50kOZWaj-9HT7oxmpp76fGQQbanPVWvXHs5VSGj54Q8ZH4tfT4p7svO9QYWJBLrXwu5jhtW7Ecg/s1600/TanjiPChanSmWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Back in the tuscany days, she painted this chandelier for her breakfast room in a very dark green to go with the tuscany feel of her new kitchen.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But, for her new lighter colors she purchased a fabulous huge chandelier for the kitchen and since this smaller one is in the same room, she wanted them to be similar in color. So, I painted, distressed and aged it with off whites and browny colors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It looks really nice with her new colors and the new chandelier.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Those red lambrequin window treatments will be covered with new fabric. I saw some samples and they WILL be beautiful!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My client does her own decorating and I love her taste. To me, it's artsy and unique.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In this picture, I had already started priming. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I almost forgot to take a picture of the "before" green.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It looks very different now, doesn't it?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWC0dxvPCb_Xnki9kkMRV30WHn27VzJorC_k01_odQq7gacknCQITT5X12F80UXhrSO7UrPbj0no3GqpKQGj52THQAXyAm_tQIdqxYal7PVIRkUr0fwRCHjXnHLqaXI4XEU41bb2Gx2FI/s1600/TanjiPChanBigWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWC0dxvPCb_Xnki9kkMRV30WHn27VzJorC_k01_odQq7gacknCQITT5X12F80UXhrSO7UrPbj0no3GqpKQGj52THQAXyAm_tQIdqxYal7PVIRkUr0fwRCHjXnHLqaXI4XEU41bb2Gx2FI/s1600/TanjiPChanBigWATER.jpg" width="438" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And, here is her fabulous new chandelier. It might look small, but that's because her walls and ceilings are very high. This chandelier is 46" wide. It just "made" her kitchen. Her kitchen is large and cabinets spread out and the chandelier pulled everything together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Very large and beautiful!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A close up of the finish on the new chandelier.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next post I'll show you her "before" tuscany kitchen and then the new kitchen. They're very different, but both beautiful in her home.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
PAINT A CHANDELIER TUTORIAL</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Through the years I've painted lots of chandeliers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When a client is changing her decor or if she just wants a change, it's sometimes easier and less expensive to paint than to replace. To replace you have to shop and purchase and then pay an electrician to install it, hoping he's able to get it right the first trip. It costs money if he has to come back. But, sometimes the wiring or other things need to be changed, thus prolonging that hourly charge. In home improvement I can do a lot, but for electrical and plumbing I always call a professional. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's so much easier for me if they can bring the chandelier to my studio. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I just hang it from the ceiling, low enough for me to stand on the floor to paint. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Sometimes they're huge and I do need a ladder to work on them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But, if I need to paint it in place in my client's home I do the same process that I would in my studio. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I just have to be more careful about covering everything around the area. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First, I dust or vacuum the best I can. Then, depending on the finish I will prime or just sand a tiny bit, very lightly. It can be very tedious, especially if there are a lot of crystal and other decorations. Then, you use a tiny or medium sized brush and start painting, distressing, aging, etc. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At the end, you need to make a decision about sealing the paint. Sometimes a sealer will change the dull look you wanted and make it shiny. Many times, I just use an eggshell paint or acrylic craft paints. They will dry to a hard finish. Nothing is going to be banging or hitting your chandelier, so it really doesn't need major protection. The main thing to remember is that with most painted surfaces, you need to be careful about using solvents because they can soften and remove the paint. If that happens, just touch it up. If you need to use a solvent on the crystals or glass, just spray your product on a cloth and wipe. If you keep it dusted, I think your finish will last a long time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Make it beautiful!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Original post 9/14/14</div>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
PAINTING ARTWORK ON A FRONT PORCH WALL & PAINTING ROSES AROUND ROSE'S FRONT DOOR</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My client asked me to do some artwork around her front porch area. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She wanted it to look "special" when company walked up to her front door.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She told me to be creative and would leave it up to me. </div><div style="text-align: center;">She said wouldn't even peek! She wanted to be surprised.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, I painted this crepe myrtle tree, kind of a pinky red. I painted these two pots of flowers and some ivy on the wall heading up to her front door. Of course, the pot in the corner is a real pot of fern and that made my artwork look more interesting.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Her house was a really nice gray color with a dark blacky gray roof. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was a really nice color for painting all of these colors that I used.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO-CmsnC4Y_g7r0mm34MvIfcMkM1bK1tjtQIJyb463fdpSnfgRpcW3wq-fmmS-eGeP_cLPKRy19hIDl0BVokngv-lH7jrXuJeIL6etZSGXve3FrkwLm-C6WupkFNVy4kHwbLRtfax7YxQ/s1600/Roses+front+door+potsWATER+of+flowers.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO-CmsnC4Y_g7r0mm34MvIfcMkM1bK1tjtQIJyb463fdpSnfgRpcW3wq-fmmS-eGeP_cLPKRy19hIDl0BVokngv-lH7jrXuJeIL6etZSGXve3FrkwLm-C6WupkFNVy4kHwbLRtfax7YxQ/s640/Roses+front+door+potsWATER+of+flowers.jpg" width="444" /></a></div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Her name was Rose.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wanted to paint roses around her front door, in honor of her name. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She LOVED that!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I painted and crackled the front door.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then, painted a color from the roses on the little trim.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was a fun project!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Rose was very happy with her new front porch and door!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Original post September 3, 2012</div>

<h2 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
HAND PAINTING A BOUQUET OF FLOWERS ON BECKY'S OLD DRESSER & PICTURES OF HER BEAUTIFUL HOME</h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In my work I am so fortunate to get to visit and work in some of the most beautiful, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
well decorated and unique styled homes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Becky has one of those homes and she has the most wonderful!! taste in decorating.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She had this old dresser and asked if I would paint a bouquet of flowers on the door. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmV7s-4UR9FAAxUlu8gIUOEWrypZ-m7Lefw31hB9OBvppKmm9twsxRawYAILOXUKlTn3B1sc7cX2VJZWhoZhRbEW-JTrgOSMH7nj9aQDGzz42Jif5eApRXJFLCfTPYHRBllC4wYHUIKuk/s1600/BeckyHenderson1WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmV7s-4UR9FAAxUlu8gIUOEWrypZ-m7Lefw31hB9OBvppKmm9twsxRawYAILOXUKlTn3B1sc7cX2VJZWhoZhRbEW-JTrgOSMH7nj9aQDGzz42Jif5eApRXJFLCfTPYHRBllC4wYHUIKuk/s640/BeckyHenderson1WATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If possible, I always want to see a picture or something to show me what my client is wanting me to paint. She told me the colors she wanted. This is the bouquet I painted for her.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2_7_y-8KG__ANouMKPvZyLDsW5IFaAKSNtvRGJ30nV3YUZ9FiwuUNh7bblCoIZnAN3wquaaMiMudZumAI0sNNAcC-YAahjqLYwsscZ0XF7YBM8L9MKqdydT-2KT0BiJZdaaEyUB5kz8w/s1600/BeckyHenderson2WATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2_7_y-8KG__ANouMKPvZyLDsW5IFaAKSNtvRGJ30nV3YUZ9FiwuUNh7bblCoIZnAN3wquaaMiMudZumAI0sNNAcC-YAahjqLYwsscZ0XF7YBM8L9MKqdydT-2KT0BiJZdaaEyUB5kz8w/s640/BeckyHenderson2WATER.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She was very happy with the bouquet, but I asked if she wanted me to distress and age/stain it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She was a bit reluctant, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
then she loved it aged because it looked so much better with the finish of the old piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Becky found these crystal knobs at Anthropologie.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

When I went back for touch-ups at the New Orleans house the chandeliers were hung and the canopies at the base looked sooo bare against the ceiling. I knew they would look so much better with ceiling medallions and I mentioned it to the builder. He asked me to go purchase and paint three for these particular chandeliers. Then, he called me and said the electricians would be there the next day and could I have them there by 10: am. I panicked, but got it done.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7AbPbndAAtRI4MUADhT7so062Mg8TGhVRqUYYdLVWvLcUJjnuTUg7qGRfyFZlsocaOVGScb7w0HCu5dvVlw4mw3iJZ6HoykdOSdw53-n3paq8Q8JncI8LRFooAFf_eul47oX_qy8yeHA/s1600/ScaffoldChanCollWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7AbPbndAAtRI4MUADhT7so062Mg8TGhVRqUYYdLVWvLcUJjnuTUg7qGRfyFZlsocaOVGScb7w0HCu5dvVlw4mw3iJZ6HoykdOSdw53-n3paq8Q8JncI8LRFooAFf_eul47oX_qy8yeHA/s640/ScaffoldChanCollWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
This HUGE chandelier in the stairwell had a tiny, dinky chain and I mentioned that it needed a chandelier chain cover. So, the builder asked me to go find one. The electricians were already there, taking down the chandelier, so I had to hurry over to Steinmart to see if they had any chain covers. They didn't and I was walking around the store, back and forth, searching for something that could be wrapped around that dinky chain on the huge chandelier. Anything, a scarf, anything that could wrap around that chain. THEN,<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglqZuoDdrA39xYLcvg3lQqllvYwZQRarxm5Ba1tm8yh6TqAOY3FuzCJsD9bEAByjGjfSaDJUEbBwgbW2YDLI683FMxYHkukERkRdfkRXNlEzXWYHLd8olYp4Z7WzBhBrVBhMnfIj7ARxQ/s1600/SOCKchainWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglqZuoDdrA39xYLcvg3lQqllvYwZQRarxm5Ba1tm8yh6TqAOY3FuzCJsD9bEAByjGjfSaDJUEbBwgbW2YDLI683FMxYHkukERkRdfkRXNlEzXWYHLd8olYp4Z7WzBhBrVBhMnfIj7ARxQ/s640/SOCKchainWATER.jpg" width="448" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
WAY ACROSS THE ROOM I saw some men's socks on a big wall. Perfect!! They had some really good colors that would match the chandelier and the ceiling medallion that I had painted for it. So, I bought a pack of three pairs in slightly varying shades and rushed back to the house to get them on the chain, so the electricians could hang the chandelier.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It looked wonderful!!! (thank goodness) The socks were hunky chunky and looked so much better on this large chandelier than the beautiful silk chain covers that you usually see. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the ceiling medallion I painted to match the chandelier. It's a lot of detailed work to paint these, but always look so, so nice on the ceiling. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I used metallic gold, silver and bronze.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This fixture looks so good with the wrought iron railing in the stairwell.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are the sock colors that I liked for the chain cover. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I cut off the toe and the stretchy part at the top of the sock. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally, everything was finished. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I was worn out from all of that running around, but it felt good</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> when the homeowner (to be), the builder, everybody was happy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was very happy, too!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When you need a chandelier or fan chain cover, remember socks. I think they're great! Not sure why we haven't thought about them, before. They come in such nice colors, men's, women's, children's and are a really good choice compared to the ones you usually find, already made.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Original post 8/3/13</div>

USING A DARK GEL STAIN ON LORI'S FAMILY ROOM CABINETS</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In Lori's home all of the cabinets use to have a pickled, white washed finish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZUElgyxcbX_5B6zh1UtBX8PWSgveVnsTBB-pe5ciIhTslDKVYhpDpvNEqLJ8fog2Duj-WJ4d7Qi6PShEb8ksxNcxpgGq-EINziD7yu7ULDnkBVYzcOCCUCYhVe82T6yHOjoSfkTjPTm0/s1600/LoriKomorekBefWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="512" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZUElgyxcbX_5B6zh1UtBX8PWSgveVnsTBB-pe5ciIhTslDKVYhpDpvNEqLJ8fog2Duj-WJ4d7Qi6PShEb8ksxNcxpgGq-EINziD7yu7ULDnkBVYzcOCCUCYhVe82T6yHOjoSfkTjPTm0/s640/LoriKomorekBefWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She asked me to paint some of her cabinets black/distressed. The black looks amazing with her wood floors and decor. Then, she asked me to darken her kitchen cabinets just a little bit so they would look distressed. I used a gel stain on the edges and a little in the middle of the doors. </div><div style="text-align: center;">The gel stain really toned down the pickled finish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2A96vgBmTu5BRQjZdE3f3NCHZp-jyjNdCtZfHQCRfwzmwNNts1Jpo363ahhl649Z7Hgfb7qgoMERPU4_BuSklw_-8wvJdX0GZWf5CZsJokHyLCvY8McPRc4WFT2iReHtRyttyvIvnPtY/s1600/LoriKomorekMantelWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="492" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2A96vgBmTu5BRQjZdE3f3NCHZp-jyjNdCtZfHQCRfwzmwNNts1Jpo363ahhl649Z7Hgfb7qgoMERPU4_BuSklw_-8wvJdX0GZWf5CZsJokHyLCvY8McPRc4WFT2iReHtRyttyvIvnPtY/s640/LoriKomorekMantelWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Recently, she called and wanted me to use gel stain on her family room cabinets.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Even though the cabinets were pickled, white washed, the wood was a little different and the wood soaked up more of the gel stain than in the kitchen.<br />
I painted on and wiped off with a rag. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It looked really, really nice with the brick on the fireplace. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She is especially happy with the way the new color looks on the mantel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrDPo5q6LyS-fDpDUhOhNZV98gZFkqLINCRsX1aE6A9r8wLEGDBjuQph2G8ffiN0sOfJqYvF07A6ORRRtnQ23vlFFfvO33YzkB94Uaw8sBgyH7lmpsfJbbmr3gu52vCo1AAYKj_7a7NFA/s1600/LoriKomorekAFWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrDPo5q6LyS-fDpDUhOhNZV98gZFkqLINCRsX1aE6A9r8wLEGDBjuQph2G8ffiN0sOfJqYvF07A6ORRRtnQ23vlFFfvO33YzkB94Uaw8sBgyH7lmpsfJbbmr3gu52vCo1AAYKj_7a7NFA/s640/LoriKomorekAFWATER.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are so many different ways to use a gel stain.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This turned out to be a really good one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lori is very happy with the final result of her family room cabinets.</div><div style="text-align: center;">(Original post 12/26/16)</div>

DESIGN & BUILD YOUR OWN FIREPLACE MANTEL ~ EMBELLISH YOUR EXISTING MANTEL</h2>
Recently I came across this picture of mantel assembly pieces.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm sharing it with you to show how easy it would be to build your own mantel. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Or, add columns and decorative pieces to your existing mantel. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If you think you can't do it, a carpenter will know what to do.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You design and pick out the pieces and ask the carpenter to help you. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="Image result for mantels" height="640" src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/1b/0a/d3/1b0ad3bd5ffa54c43b635c9429122ef4--wood-fireplace-mantels-fireplace-headboard.jpg" width="531" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sometimes I will see a carpenter working on an existing mantel. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At first it does not look so good with all of the unfinished pieces being added.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But, once everything gets painted or stained the same color it looks great.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Google fireplace mantels to get ideas for your own creation. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I saw several that were $3,000 , $4,000. and even more expensive to purchase. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Pinterest is another place to find good ideas.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can find trim pieces at home improvement stores and online. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Try to picture them after everything has been painted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha1c1xKYX0wmvVA_3xeMr6FWimCfRS3ZWPnRzpMOloU8sCIpXVea8pC-6cDaeH6kdGvlMWAKYC4-tK4Fhpuu9fIsRctjj9MKnWq7BMol01y8oVFdajsAQ9s6VlztNgjDiMl1SuB4QUnH4/s1600/IMG_2949save.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha1c1xKYX0wmvVA_3xeMr6FWimCfRS3ZWPnRzpMOloU8sCIpXVea8pC-6cDaeH6kdGvlMWAKYC4-tK4Fhpuu9fIsRctjj9MKnWq7BMol01y8oVFdajsAQ9s6VlztNgjDiMl1SuB4QUnH4/s640/IMG_2949save.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a mantel I painted. It does not have a lot of trim pieces, but beautiful.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXQNwP93ZmUYE6AYm4kk7m5EIro8gdb3atNdeG7qoS-pI-hkZLMjimdRwvrEefrI5Vmxq0j-8_hcvYxPvfhdTV833wuR2k0YS9HokCXy-oD56Z5gSOHuoVG0YVL7oXHqSJ6A5h1zNG-qo/s1600/IMG_2126_1watermar.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="867" height="566" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXQNwP93ZmUYE6AYm4kk7m5EIro8gdb3atNdeG7qoS-pI-hkZLMjimdRwvrEefrI5Vmxq0j-8_hcvYxPvfhdTV833wuR2k0YS9HokCXy-oD56Z5gSOHuoVG0YVL7oXHqSJ6A5h1zNG-qo/s640/IMG_2126_1watermar.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another one I painted. I love all of the round and curved trim pieces.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They are mostly individual pieces nailed, glued or screwed together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGy0PcNEwrLpiHgzqWiHEQ4zzlMkyOfwBwpIQbZSj59kaL_hMVZ3oF8OuuB-aBwLCZq7sdhmR2nkkMFSSBQ8Gn3UCdC8cuTPxcnFCgJJCYj8G5To3WSr0ds4TchxvNJ8u8NYTu1tJWG_8/s1600/WhitacreMantelNewWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGy0PcNEwrLpiHgzqWiHEQ4zzlMkyOfwBwpIQbZSj59kaL_hMVZ3oF8OuuB-aBwLCZq7sdhmR2nkkMFSSBQ8Gn3UCdC8cuTPxcnFCgJJCYj8G5To3WSr0ds4TchxvNJ8u8NYTu1tJWG_8/s640/WhitacreMantelNewWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another huge mantel that I painted. It was so tall I had to reach up to work on it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipty_6Y7TWLPqVpyFc2COP0FOKgKAASbRzLBsa787E7MGleHpn9sQY1JTcKWvFdbBDSNUH-mCGbR2QXEpeS5SZmT5mxUDgmzg2nZpp-dm_jMtUCTGF-zBCBKYNaARqwKbAfeqtTY9A1io/s1600/WhitacreMantelCloseupWATER.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipty_6Y7TWLPqVpyFc2COP0FOKgKAASbRzLBsa787E7MGleHpn9sQY1JTcKWvFdbBDSNUH-mCGbR2QXEpeS5SZmT5mxUDgmzg2nZpp-dm_jMtUCTGF-zBCBKYNaARqwKbAfeqtTY9A1io/s640/WhitacreMantelCloseupWATER.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These mantels were all assembled with lots of parts and pieces like the first picture above.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You can do it, too!<br />

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
PAINTING A MURAL OF SKY & SCISSORTAIL FLYCATCHER BIRDS IN A SKYLIGHT</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Monica called and asked if I would paint a mural of Scissortail Flycatcher birds in the skylight of their master bathroom. She said when they drive in the country they always see them on power lines and flying in the air and look so beautiful. They love Scissortails.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxUl-xK89wmFRZea5ebeg358CuA0Dc3b_J1F1MKGUwk1N1KdIUBBWeFkIVMCmR9avjGtuZUxcmQ0Mj5R7rTTeKm0fea10GCUlaIAi6s7mm25EEHPoZ6HI7-ou2h-YgEFWS37iPw2SkdUY/s1600/IMG_5125watermark.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxUl-xK89wmFRZea5ebeg358CuA0Dc3b_J1F1MKGUwk1N1KdIUBBWeFkIVMCmR9avjGtuZUxcmQ0Mj5R7rTTeKm0fea10GCUlaIAi6s7mm25EEHPoZ6HI7-ou2h-YgEFWS37iPw2SkdUY/s640/IMG_5125watermark.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, I used my 8' ladder and got up in that skylight. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really enjoyed painting this sky and Texas Scissortail Flycatchers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji69mqQK6cM2nTp0-PwGhy54sYBpTXRMJ4d7qswzMA5IHyt0U4LqRrz5bp_xZ7GQq_md56UNg7JD5DRwXTkhTXOVq6BqXbgKvi4wE9OHNECYknoKoin9FNL1bu3vZuPeS5fx6q7f1ka9s/s1600/IMG_5126+watermark.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji69mqQK6cM2nTp0-PwGhy54sYBpTXRMJ4d7qswzMA5IHyt0U4LqRrz5bp_xZ7GQq_md56UNg7JD5DRwXTkhTXOVq6BqXbgKvi4wE9OHNECYknoKoin9FNL1bu3vZuPeS5fx6q7f1ka9s/s640/IMG_5126+watermark.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There was no stress painting this mural. Monica and Kade are so easy to work with. I knew they would probably be thrilled to see their Scissortails in the skylight. And, they were!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1pXs4HHV-ivU8TA9wQ5yIi52lrmhn-WLCTgFL8H0RcU0fvTBdc9lSYMYvnZQEEqJsykMVuIg_EVZKRiocIng1735_EMPY4MoEsqOzKoSOT-ss29I1Y-oAjcCAwUQdSfkHfTLkGnN09GY/s1600/IMG_5130watermark.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1pXs4HHV-ivU8TA9wQ5yIi52lrmhn-WLCTgFL8H0RcU0fvTBdc9lSYMYvnZQEEqJsykMVuIg_EVZKRiocIng1735_EMPY4MoEsqOzKoSOT-ss29I1Y-oAjcCAwUQdSfkHfTLkGnN09GY/s640/IMG_5130watermark.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is a nice surprise to walk into the master bath and see this mural above the ceiling.</div>

HAND PAINTED & DISTRESSED COUNTRY FRENCH CABINET WITH BIRD & NEST ARTWORK</h2>

SAVE YOUR OLD FURNITURE & MAKE IT NEW AGAIN<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, "Palatino Linotype", Palatino, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22.4px; text-align: center;">
My client wanted me to paint this cabinet for her store. She left the colors up to me and asked me to make it country french. I painted a soft red as an undercoat then I painted it yellow and distressed it. I painted the trim a soft blue. <span style="line-height: 22.4px;">Next, I painted the bird and nest artwork on the doors. </span>After I painted the artwork, I glazed the chest and cabinet with a greeny brown antiquing glaze that I mixed. Clear glaze and a bit of paint. Mix well.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, Utopia, "Palatino Linotype", Palatino, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 22.4px; text-align: center;">
Sometimes I have so much going on in my studio, that I have to work in other rooms of my house. This is my dining room and these pieces were so large that I had to move my table and chairs into the living room. It's always a bit crowded, but not for long. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I painted this 7' high mirror frame for a client. </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">It was green and I painted a special distressed finish with black, brown and "old gold". She hung it on a very high wall above her fireplace. After it was hung, I went back and hi-lited some of the raised design with the "old gold" paint so it would show up better since it was so high on the wall. JAN DRESSLER STENCILS FOR SALE ~ NEW & USED</h2>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Back in the 1990's I did a lot of stenciling and Jan Dressler stencils were some of my favorites. Back then I purchased many of her stencils and used them in my clients' homes. I would purchase an additional one or two of the stencils I used the most. I love stencils and still have quite a few of Jan Dressler and other stencil designers in my collection, new and used. I am adding these stencils for sale in <span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)" face="Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">my Etsy shop. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)" face="Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">~</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span color="rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87)" face="Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif" style="font-size: x-large;"> <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/LyndaBandCo?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1313841904"><span>LyndaBandCo</span></a></span></div><div style="text-align: center;">My Etsy Shop</div><div style="text-align: center;">~</div><div class="Qy5T6b O3LMFb QduVPe" style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: transparent; background-color: white; border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(236, 239, 241); color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87); display: flex; flex-direction: row; flex: 0 0 auto; font-family: Roboto, RobotoDraft, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><div class="znzEhe" style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: transparent; display: flex; flex: 1 1 auto;"></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfThYHaz6PBa2zxpyzPUbGrD7L6Z15oO0FbKaL-UJ6GUAhqlrGjGo3YrNdKHdG2EJdobErtHoBDhMjUIfItX_HSF5aM6d-MVqcVOnmmZ_t-iTPG3zPk1FMgEXVgHdUAedF6-2K2T85VYIgBVHcJ9iLYPtqE9c4rXIDCdvezk3pMpUAs2GnJSg98oTr/s3037/IMG_1217.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3037" data-original-width="2049" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfThYHaz6PBa2zxpyzPUbGrD7L6Z15oO0FbKaL-UJ6GUAhqlrGjGo3YrNdKHdG2EJdobErtHoBDhMjUIfItX_HSF5aM6d-MVqcVOnmmZ_t-iTPG3zPk1FMgEXVgHdUAedF6-2K2T85VYIgBVHcJ9iLYPtqE9c4rXIDCdvezk3pMpUAs2GnJSg98oTr/w432-h640/IMG_1217.JPG" width="432" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">#165 Acanthus Corner</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">1996</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Vertical Height 16"</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Horizontal Length 20"</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">2 Overlays</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Never Been Opened</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">~</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/LyndaBandCo?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1313841904"><span style="font-size: large;">LyndaBandCo</span></a><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My Etsy Shop</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>

A long time ago, I was working in her home, painting artwork in her room. I painted a castle and three yellow birds in the sky over her castle. When I arrived the next morning, she asked me to paint two more birds because she was "five".</div>

So, I painted two more yellow birds for her.</div>
