DESIGNING & PAINTING ARTWORK FOR A VERY SPECIAL CAROUSEL NURSERY
Several years ago, my mom-to-be client asked me to paint artwork in her nursery-to-be.She decided she wanted a "carousel nursery"
I did a lot of research, looking at the design of different carousels.
She already had this beautiful bed and bedding and a fancy chandelier.
So, I asked her about the artwork she might want me to paint at the top of the carousel.
Because it was a nursery, I told her some of my ideas. Since she didn't want to know the sex of her baby, I painted a lot of pink and blue.
(it turned out to be a boy)
Most of this artwork is freehand, but I did use a stencil for the bottom design and a fleur de lis at the top. Oh, and a rope stencil for the hobby horse pole.
I drew a pattern for the hobby horses, so they would all be the same.
To make them different, I just painted different colors on each one.
It took a lot of measuring for the all around design, especially the ceiling.
Below is my artwork that I painted at the top of the carousel.
Below is the pattern I drew for the hobby horses.
Keeping the placement of furniture in mind, we decided where each hobby horse would go.
I taped my pattern to the wall, making sure it was level. Then I traced it on the wall with tracing paper and painted each hobby horse with different colors.
When I found these pictures from the past, I could hardly wait to share them with you.
I love the way this turned out and my client was truly happy!!
