ANTIQUE DOORS FOR ROBIN & JAVI'S NEW HOME

ANTIQUE DOORS FOR ROBIN & JAVI'S NEW HOME

I want to show you the beautiful antique doors Robin found for her new home.
This antique door is for her front powder room.
I think her painters only stripped the stain from the wood and sealed.
Look at that screen!
This antique door is Robin's pantry door.
I painted COMIDA on it...means food in Spanish.
And, I painted the tiny black trim around the glass.
This antique door is for a guest bath.
This is the antique door for her master bedroom.  It had some areas that had been sanded and some areas where white paint was splattered.  I mixed Americana Raw Umber craft paint and a little bit of Ceramcoat Black together.  Added a little bit of water and brushed most of the door.  I use craft paints for touch ups often because they are so durable.
Robin's painters stained the door frame and baseboards.
When Robin found this door is was perfectly aged with paint peeling in just the right places.  When they delivered the door to Robin's new home the door had been stripped of all color...oh, no!!  So, I stained the wood with a light brown stain, painted and distressed it.  One of the reasons she chose this one was the wonderful old glass at the top.  You can see a little bit of the glass in this picture.  (Look at her laundry/hobby room floor tile.)
When Robin and Javi purchased this property there a a small house on it.
They wanted to build a larger home, so they remodeled and are using the original home as their guest casita (cottage).  They attached the casita to the larger home with a lonnnngggg hallway with windows that look out on their pool, stables and back property.
She saved the original double front doors that were in the little house and installed them as the entrance to the casita.  She, also, saved the original stained glass and had it installed above the doors.  I painted the doors a wood color, then...
painted them black and rubbed the edges so the brown would show through.
I rubbed the paint off with the tip of my finger as you can see the dots on the rag.
I love the way Robin decorates.
