PAINTING ON FABRIC FOR CHAIR CUSHIONS & CATCHING UP TO SAY "HI THERE"

PAINTING ON FABRIC FOR CHAIR CUSHIONS & CATCHING UP TO SAY "HI THERE"

Last week I was working in a lovely home, painting her breakfast room table and chairs.  Last year I got to paint her kitchen cabinets.  I'll share that with you in the next day or two.
The week before that, I painted a 14' high dining room ceiling my "antique copper" special finish.  The pictures just don't do it justice.  That "antique copper" fits her home beautifully.  I'll share it with you, soon.
Right now I'm painting  several areas of black distressed cabinets in a home and I'm almost finished.  I'll share that with you, too.
I'm way backed up on sharing with you.  I love showing you what clients are asking me to do in their homes, because I hope to inspire and encourage you in decorating your homes.
Also, a client ordered some chairs for her dining room and the chair cushions are white.  She wanted more color and showed me a pattern sample of the colors she would love to have on those chairs.  So, I traced the pattern on duck cloth and this is how far I've gotten with the painting.
Today, I have to show this to her for approval.  My main concern is, the chairs haven't come in yet and I don't know what kind of fabric is on those chair cushions.  So, it might be a challenge painting on that fabric.  We'll see!
Off to work, now.  Just wanted to say "hi there" :)

  2. Lynda, do you use fabric paint or acrylics? I have used both but the acrylic gets a little stiff.

    1. Hi Maggie, I use acrylics, house paint and anything I have on hand that is the right color. I do use water and fabric medium to thin the paint and to make sure it soaks into the fabric. Yes, it always gets a little bit stiff. I like the acrylics because they are so durable. Also, they are wipeable.

  4. Wow! How lucky would that homeowner be to custom-painted dining room chair cushions!? They look great so far.

    1. Her drapery fabric that I was copying was absolutely beautiful!! They wanted a watercolory look to the chair seats, too. If they decide they want me to paint the chair seats, it will take quite a while to get all of that tiny artwork done.
