PAINTING A DISTRESSED STAINED FINISH ON LINDA'S BREAKFAST ROOM TABLE & CHAIRS

Linda has the prettiest house!
Last year, I painted her kitchen cabinets.  A few weeks ago, she asked me to paint her breakfast room table and chairs.  She wanted the chairs to be blue with a stain over the blue.  She told me the finish she wanted, so I made her a sample of what I thought she wanted.  I made the sample on poster board and a small piece of it was torn.  When Linda saw how the paint and stain looked on that torn part of the paper, she said "this is what I want".
So, this is how the chairs turned out.

There is a brown under coat.  I painted the blue on top of that and wiped and rubbed off with a rag.  When that dried, I wiped on and wiped off a stain.

Isn't that a cool look!!
It was a great idea to make them look like the torn sample board.

Speaking of the "element of surprise".
When I opened the door to her dark bathroom and turned on the light, this picture of her precious Ollie was right in front of me.  Right by the comode.
So cute!!  and, he's the best little rescue dog.

The table base was beige and she asked me to paint it a black distressed finish.
Hope you can see that I rubbed the black off of those curved areas so the brown would show through the black.

Her table top was scratched  in several areas.  I was able to lightly sand and stain those areas and then seal the top really well with two coats of clear sealer.
It looks brand new, again.
I love the look of the blue/brown chairs, the black table base and stained table top together.  And, those colors go so well with all of her beautiful decor.

This is how everything looked "before".
I love how the sun comes in that window.

This is a link to
that I painted last year.

The new breakfast room colors look wonderful with the kitchen cabinet colors.
Thank you, Linda!

    1. Thank you! The good thing about paint is, if you don't like how something turns out, you can paint right over it. Have fun!
