WRITING & PAINTING WORDS ON A WALL & TUTORIAL

WRITING & PAINTING WORDS ON A WALL & TUTORIAL

My client wanted me to paint this beautiful bible verse on her kitchen wall.
GALATIONS 5:22
She knew she could order vinyl lettering, but she wanted it HAND PAINTED.
The first thing I did was print out the font that my client gave me.  Then, I took it to a print shop, enlarged the words and printed out the large lettering in sections.
Next, I placed and taped the lettering on the wall.  I had to work with it a little bit to get it placed in just the right spot.  I used a yard stick and a level.
Next, I traced the letters on the wall using graphite paper and a pencil.
The last thing I did was paint the lettering red with a small artists' brush.
My client was very happy and it looked really nice on her kitchen wall.
It's a HAND PAINTED every day good reminder!

  4. You did a great job! Now when you say you traced the letters, did you actually cut out each letter and tape them up there to trace or did you do some kind of transfer paper where you stuck it under the paper and traced it so you could paint it? Us non expert painters need all the details we can get - Hee,hee!

    1. Hi Selina, I used tracing paper. I cut out each word, very close to the print, so I could place the words exactly where I wanted them to be. I taped the very top of the paper to the wall and slid the tracing paper under the word and traced that word on the wall. I used a dark tracing paper and when I painted it, the paint went right over the dark lines. And, if the paint doesn't paint right over the dark lines, that will still look good, like shadowing. But, the lines give you boundaries. I used a very small brush to paint the letters. At Michael's, you can find the small angled brushes and those are the ones I love to use. My brush might have been 1/2" wide. (Thank You!)

    1. Hi Laura, I taped the paper words to the wall and put tracing paper under the paper words and traced with a pencil. The dark lines of the tracing paper were my guidelines. Hope that helps.

  27. Just beautiful, both the verse and the artwork. Great tips as well, we're moving to a new house in a week or so and I love the idea of having meaningful verses and quotes throughout the house (as a mom of a toddler a reminder of patience and love is always a good thing!) Glad I found you at the Share It One More Time Party :)
