PAINTING ARTWORK ON RUSTY OLD CORRUGATED ROOF TINS FOR RUTH

PAINTING ARTWORK ON RUSTY OLD CORRUGATED ROOF TINS FOR RUTH

Ruth built a new home way out in the country.
She had me do several things for her new home and I really loved working for her.  She had the most beautiful country acreage with flowers and butterflies everywhere.
She found some old rusted corrugated sheets of tin roofing and asked me to paint some colorful artwork on them so she could hang them from a great big tree down by the shed.
So, this is what I painted.
I worked on them in my backyard.  The roof tins were so easy to paint and it was fun creating something bright and colorful for Ruth's beautiful garden.
I wasn't sure if she was going to hang them side by side.  So just in case, I painted the yellow lantana kind of like it was one big patch of yellow.
To paint on these roof tins was Ruth's idea and such a unique one!!

She is a great decorator and I loved everything she did in her new home.
In her last home, she wanted me to paint her kitchen cabinets and I begged her to let me paint them red.  She had touches of red in her living area close to the kitchen and I knew the (browny) red would look sooo good.  She was reluctant at first and then absolutely LOVED her new red kitchen.  She loved it so much that she painted the same shade of red in her large new country kitchen and it looked wonderful!!
Thank you for letting me do this awesome project for you, Ruth!

PAINTING AND DISTRESSING AN OLD CHEST FOR A BATHROOM, GRANITE AND SINK

Kim was building a new home and had me painting lots of furniture, cabinets and ceilings with special finishes.

This old chest was green with a black top.  I primed and painted it to an old, distressed finish.  I painted the trim a dark coffee brown for contrast.

Kim had everything planned out, all of her colors and a place for everything!  This chest was going in one of her guest baths.  When I finished the painting, it was installed and the granite guys put a beautiful dark granite and sink on it.  (I have photos of that, somewhere! and can't find it.  I'll post it, later.)

I love doing old finishes!  And, I love seeing all the furniture, cabinets and ceilings that I've done, with everything in it's place...furniture, mirrors, accents...the finished product.  It's a very rewarding feeling.  ALWAYS a LOT of work, but very rewarding!!

PAINTING A METALLIC BRONZE DINING ROOM CEILING

My client had a white ceiling in her dining room and wanted me to paint it a bronze metallic finish.
After painting the ceiling, I stenciled a bronzy brown leaf scrollie design on the white crown molding, just under the bronze ceiling.
She had a beautiful crystal chandelier and it showed up BEAUTIFULLY!! with the dark ceiling background.
(Remember, metallic paints reflect, so they reflect where the light is shining on them. I think the flash of light from my camera made this show up really well.)

PAINTING & AGING A CEILING TO LOOK LIKE VERY OLD CEILIING TILES

Kim was building a new home and wanted one of her entry ceilings to look like an old tin ceiling.  So, she ordered stainless steel sheets of ceiling tiles, had them installed and told me how she wanted them painted.  This is "my interpretation" of what she told me.

She was very happy with the way I painted the ceiling.  But, she didn't know that she could have purchased embossed wallpaper for a MUCH, much lower price.  After painting it, no one would have known the difference between the stainless steel and the embossed wallpaper.  (She used the stainless steel sheets of ceiling tiles on a very high, very large kitchen ceiling, too.  And, had me paint it, also.)
(You can get the embossed wallpaper at Lowes.  And, if you don't see the right pattern in the "in stock" bin, I think you can special order from them.  Also, you can go online to look for additional patterns and sizes.)
I painted the ceiling tiles yellow and stained over the yellow with a brown stain, to make them look old, rusted and dirty.
I have painted other embossed wallpaper ceilings in antique silver, antique copper and just painted it a solid color, which looks really nice, too.

I didn't roll any of the paint on this ceiling...it is allll hand painted and rubbed!!!
This was a very large ceiling, but loved working on it, making it look really old.

PAINTING AND DISTRESSING A VANITY TO AN "OLD WORLD" GOLD

Rosalie recovered her vanity chair and asked me to paint her vanity to match.  So, I painted it an "old world" gold and painted tiny flowers on the top to match the flowers in the new fabric on her chair.  This is one of my favorite pieces of furniture that I've painted.

I painted the stenciled leaves, edge of the desk and other trim with a metallic gold to match the stripe in the chair fabric.

I used a stencil for these tiny leaves.  I stenciled inside the drawers, too.
The leaves on the outside of the furniture are embossed and painted the same metallic gold.
On the top of the vanity, I painted these flowers to match the colors in the fabric.

Isn't this fabric beautiful!!  Luscious!!
Also, I painted the little wooden knobs to match the painted flowers.
See why I love this desk!!
